Top of Texas Country Store is a country general store and bakery owned by the Nightingales- Landon and Megan. We work with our three children and a small team we are so thankful for. We’re country-raised, faith-guided, and happy to serve our town and the travelers passing through.
We didn’t plan to own a store, but when the opportunity was available, it started with a joke, “It can’t be that hard, maybe we should buy it.” Less than a month later, we were pleased owners of Top of Texas. What started out as a whim became our biggest blessing.
The store is inside one of the oldest buildings in town, built in 1902, and much of the original flooring and crown molding is still here. Thoughtful improvements have been made to retain the historical character.
When we are not behind the counter or in the store kitchen, Landon can be found roasting coffee, tinkering on his Beetle, or firing up his outdoor pizza oven or griddle. Megan keeps busy with household duties and children, keeping up with friends, or babying her plants; bookwork and organizing is her forte. The children pitch in at the store during summer or after school, but they love to read and spend time outdoors. Tommy, our cat, is their companion and guardian. We love the simple and old-fashioned things of life: backpacking, fishing, picnics, board games, or roasting the perfect marshmallow over the fire. Time together is our priority.
